I haven’t posted in a while (school is just busy) but i figured i’d have a random update.
Cello’s going good. I took my tapes off. I’m starting to get a callous. It’s bugging me.
I went to the symphony last night. We were in the nosebleed section. And I’m not lying. We were the 2nd to last row. But our tickets were 5 dollars. There was a cellist there and since I play cello I thought that was cool. They did an amazing job. One of my friends at church was on the front row. She plays cello in the youth philaharmonic orchestra. I think next year I might try out. My friends who have been in it say that it’s fun. But saxophone isn’t an orchestra instrument. They had a harp at the orchestra. I would love to play the harp. I played it when I was at Zoe’s house. I loved it! Some day I think I want to get a harp like Zoe’s. When I go to her house I’m going to spend a lot of time on her harp. (I hope you don’t mind Zoe) I just love harps. They are amazing and beautiful. Piano is also really cool. That is my 1st instrument. There are benifits to learning piano and they are…..
- They are amazing instruments.
- You can do cool solos.
- You can accompany other people.
- You learn 2 clefs so if you chose a different instrument you know don’t have to learn a different clef (unless you switch to viola or an instrument that plays in alto or tenor clef. I have to learn tenor clef but not quite yet)
- You can do a lot with piano.
- You can find a lot of piano music. Some instruments aren’t as poplular so it’s harder to find music too. Especially music that you like.
Pretty much I love piano. But I love the alto saxophone. I don’t care much for tenor sax or baritone sax. Soprano sax is cool. I wish I had one or the school had one because I would play it. But alto’s pretty much my saxophone and i wouldn’t permanantly switch. Cello is also amazing. I love the sound of it. It’s not too high like violins, it’s not (always) in a weird clef like the viola and it’s not really low and big like the stringbass. So that is my preference with strings. And I think it’s a prettiest. (sorry if i offend other string players)
I love the musical Les Miserables! It has great music. I just love it. I also like the storyline. Ok I haven’t seen the musical or read the book. But I have heard some of the music and I watched a movie. I really want to read the book. I might get that for Christmas. I asked my mom.
Ok…So I LOVE Christmas! I have been waiting for Christmas since….January. I was listening to Christmas music the other day. I was playing Christmas music on my cello and piano. But it’s just amazing. The reasons I love Christmas are…
- I get to see my family.
- The music
- Decorating Christmas trees
- Christmas movies
- 2 weeks off of school
- and Christmas Eve
Well there is just some random stuff. I hope I didn’t bore anyone to death. And if I did I’m sorry it’s actually your fault for reading the whole thing. Just saying. Well I’ll try to post later
Merry Christmas
School and stuff

Today was the first day of school. I guess it could have been worse but it still wasn’t that good. It’s still school. I’m just going to have to go through it and hopefully summer will be soon. The only good thing about school is band and It might be a good band but the band hall is too small for all those people. It’s driving me insane. And it’s the first day. I love playing music but there aren’t enough lockers for the instruments. Well at least for saxophones and trumpets. It’s driving me crazy. It was so tight in band today.
I got a new cell phone. It’s my first one that isn’t a hand-me-down. It’s blue and it slides so it’s pretty cool. Cooler than I expected my parents to let me get. But my sister has one but hers is white.
I’m loving cello. It’s amazing. I’m getting good for just a couple months of playing. I’m really enjoying it. I love my cello. My cello teacher has me doing really easy beginner stuff. I started harder songs like Musette and something from Sleeping Beauty (the ballet) But I think I chose the perfect string instrument. Not huge like the bass but you don’t put it under your chin which bugged me when I played violin. I already knew bass clef from piano so it’s been pretty easy to pick up on. Just need to learn tenor clef. But not yet.
I got the August Rush soundtrack. I love that movie. And it has a cello which is amazing. It has some language that it could have left out. And a part that shouldn’t have been in there but is kind the whole reason why the movie took place. They still probably could have changed it. But it has amazing cello and other music. I love it. It would be so much fun to play some of the music. Put it would be pretty hard. Still it’s really cool. I love that movie. It kinda ended abruptly but whatever.
I started reading Do Hard Things and so far it’s amazing. I would suggust it. Go to the website and check it out. It’s really cool.
The olympics are over. And it’s so sad.
I enjoyed them a lot. Shawn Johnson and Nastia Liukin were amazing at gymnastics and Michael Phelps is a great swimmer. It is insane. But it was cool to see even if it was just on the TV. I have a friend who I want to make the 2012 Olympics in London so I can go see her. That would be cool.
Cello and other Music stuff

So I had my 1st cello lesson a couple weeks ago and my 2nd lesson is Saturday. Pretty much all I’m working on is what notes the strings are and holding the instrument and the bow. It hurts to hold the bow. It makes my hand hurt and I always hold it wrong. I really not see why you have to hold it a certain way. It may help in the long run but I really don’t know. All I know is that it hurts but I have to get use to it. But I love my cello. The sound is so beautiful and just the instrument itself is so beautiful. I really want to do something other than the bow and plucking the strings with your fingers in my next lesson. My teacher is going to put tape on the fingerboard so I can know where I need to place my fingers.
I wonder if you can trill on a string instrument. I bet it would be hard. It is kinda hard on piano. Some notes on wind instruments are easier to trill than others in my opinion. Like F to F sharp. All you do it use the extra key. Or B to C if you use the side key. (Anyone who doesn’t play the sax probably won’t get this)
I still love piano. I’m working on a new song. I pretty much have everything written that I want in it. But the hard part is arranging it together so it sounds good. I think I’m going to need to write another part to that song too. It’s sometimes a lot of work to write a song and other times I can write one in a few minutes. I love writing songs so much! But I have to get in a certain zone which happens but not always when I can sit down at a piano and write something. Sometimes I’ll make up cool songs in my mind but I’ll end up losing it before I can play it on the piano. The worst thing is when I write something and I can’t find the right rhythm so I can write it down.
Sorry if that was boring.
Summer!!!

I’m finally out of school!!! It’s exciting!!! I’m a sophomore. It hasn’t set in yet. I went to graduation. I didn’t want to go. I was tired and didn’t want to go. I just wanted to stay home. We got there and there weren’t any seats left. Well at least not 4 together. So we had to stand up. It was boring. I don’t really have anything too exciting to say. But I might get to learn how to play cello!!! I love the cello!!! It’s so pretty!!! So it’s exciting!!! I don’t know if I will learn it for sure or not but I hope I get too. Well I don’t have anything else to say. So bye.
